     Impatiens mirabilis is a marvelous caudiciform from the hot tropics of Thailand and Malaysia. In nature it can be found growing right out of limestone cliffs. In cultivation, it makes an excellent potted plant with very similar care requirements to most succulents. The main difference is that it enjoys bright, indirect light, not full sun. Keep it underpotted in a coarse soil mix. During the active growing stage in the warmer months, I keep it constantly moist. When the leaves start to yellow, this plant will enter dormancy. From December – March it will be completely leafless and will need very little water during this time. Let the soil dry out completely before giving it a light watering.

     This plant will grow into the size of a small tree with time and care. This specific plant produces annual yellow, helmet shaped flowers on a long peduncle. A true marvel of the tropical world.
