What is Other Plants?
From Seed
I grew up surrounded by a collection of the world's tropical lushness in a backyard in South Florida. From my upbringing sprouted my eternal interest in the marvels and oddities of nature. It wasn't until 2020 in the wake of the global pandemic that I began cultivating plants of my own.
To Sapling
Before long, I had more plants than I knew what to do with. And there were still so many more I wanted to grow. So as a way to fund my obsession, I began selling plants online and in local plant sales. With time, I fine-tuned my collection and stock to feature the most interesting and promising plants that I could grow. And Other Plants was born.
To One Day, A Tree
It is my mission to cultivate highly uncommon and criminally underrated plants, and to share them with others who may appreciate their remarkableness. I strive to raise robust, healthy plants, grown by me and sourced through ethical and sustainable means. Through this hardwork, my goal is to make Other Plants a sought-after source for exceptional and unique plants.
Hi, my name is Palmer!
I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and it is where I live today with my wife, Zayra, and cat, Chico. I have had a passion for plants since I was a child, which was instilled in me by my father, an acclaimed horticulturist. It wasn't until I graduated from the University of Florida in Plant Science in 2020 that I began cultivating plants of my own. The plant craze of that time inspired me to start my own business selling what I grew. This later became Other Plants. Although a small operation, I strive for quality, plant diversity, and individuality at my nursery. During the day I serve as Lead Horticulturist at Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County.
