Campyloneurum angustifolium / Narrow Strap Fern

     Campyloneurum angustifolium, known in the US as the Florida Narrow Strap Fern. This is a lowland fern species that can be found throughout the tropical Americas, but its northern range extends into the cypress swamps of the Fakahatchee Strand in the southern tip of Florida.  
     This fern is unusual in that it resembles a grass more so than anything else. The give away are the yellow sori underneath the narrow fronds. This plant produces a short rhizome that is constantly putting out new fronds, which can exceed 20” in length. Grow this plant mounted or in a pot. Allow it to dry slightly between waterings.
