For those interested in growing the wonderful tropical species of the Coffee Family (Rubiaceae), this is a plant that should be on your radar! It is an excellent candidate for container growing because it stays relatively small is well adapted to dry conditions. The white, trumpet-shaped flowers are reminiscent of Portlandia and their beauty.

I am growing these plants outdoors in a South Florida climate, and I have not experienced any difficulty in care. This is surprising, considering N. mexicana comes from arid regions ranging from 1,000-3,600 meters in elevation. This species is still quite rare in cultivation, so its cultural tolerances are not widely know. I should mention that it grows moderately slow. If you decide to purchase, please let me know if your plant blooms!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0966/6622/2955/files/F55CC209-FF4F-4EFF-8BB3-8DF2C309C12C.jpg?v=1793119979
